SPELLING BEE GUIDELINES

 

Purpose of Spelling Bee:

  1. To help students improve their spelling
  2. To Increase their vocabularies
  3. To learn concepts
  4. To develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives
  5. To improve the ability to learn independently
  6. To improve students’ listening skills

 

Participation:

Students in all professional courses

 

ROUND 1

English teachers gave to their students 6000 English words in September. Teachers will give adequate study time and prepare at least 1 weeks in advance the date of the classroom spelling bee. All students will take part in the School Spelling Bee.

 

ROUND 2

In round 2, all students will compete in the School Spelling Bee. Each speller should listen their own word carefully and must spell it aloud first repeating the word, spelling the word, and then repeating the word when finished spelling. Misspelled words will not be spelled by the next speller.

 

ROUND 3

In round 3, all students will compete again in the School Spelling Bee.  In   this   round, Students who spell correctly will continue competing but those who misspell are out of the competition. The competitors for the All-School Spelling Bee will compete until there are 10 top spellers.

 

ROUND 4

When there are only 10 top spellers remaining and teller will give a word and each competitor must correctly spell it by one letter, and then repeating the word when finished spelling. Those who spell correctly continue competing but those who misspell are out of the competition. Competition will continue until there are 5 top spellers.

 

ROUND 5

In this round, Speller will write and spell correctly, and   translate into Mongolian this word These 5 competitors will compete until there is one winner named the “School Winner”.
